Hours to return to resting heart rate after workout, otherwise healthy / fit.

Hey guys, I'm 30 / 180 lbs, 6'-2". I've been working out for years consistently, I would describe myself as fit / very fit.

My problem: My heart rate stays about 20-30bpm above my resting heart rate for hours after a good workout. For instance, today I spent 1h20 on the elliptical with an average HR of 154 and a maximum of 186 (note that my heart rate can go pretty high, above 200). I finished this workout 4 hours ago, had a protein shake and a healthy lunch (low in sugar, reasonable in fat). And right now I'm writing this post, my heart rate is still at 80 (that's 4 hours after the end of the workout). My usual resting heart rate is 60. One other thing is my Heart Rate Recovery is fine, usually 20-30bpm dropped 1 minute after exercise. Also, I get plenty of sleep, I'm not stressed, I hydrate a lot, I don't smoke and I haven't drank alcohol for a week.

This is a typical behavior for me, it's been happening since I can recall (aka 15 year old). It's nothing dramatic but I usually feel very tired during this long recovery. It also prevents me to sleep if I workout in the evening.

Is there any tips / advice I should know to reduce my recovery time? Thank you.
